I began my career as a therapist later in life after raising my children. While in school earning my
Masters' Degree in Social Work, I interned and then was hired as an advocate for the Sacramento County
District Attorney’s Office’s, Domestic Violence Unit.
I also interned at The Family Service Agency offering counseling services to individuals in need. After
graduation, I worked with offenders of domestic violence facilitating anger management groups.
Since 2000, I have been providing couples, individual and family counseling to people who face difficult
struggles in their lives. As do many clinicians, I work with a variety of clients with differing issues. My areas
of special training and expertise include relationship problems, conflict resolution, anger management, co-
parenting, parenting struggles, and domestic violence. Other areas of special training include work with
depression/anxiety, substance abuse, child/sexual abuse, bonding and attachment issues, as well as
other areas of life’s struggles.
Because I strive to provide the best therapeutic services to my clients, I consistently work at becoming more
educated by attending conferences, workshops and reading professional materials.
As a Therapist:
The characteristics that I feel are paramount in fostering a quality connection between my client(s) and
myself involve my ability to compassionately listen without judgment. Because very personal issues are
revealed in counseling, often causing anxiety or fear, I attempt to alleviate these feelings by genuinely
demonstrating my empathy and concern.
Although I am caring and understanding, I feel that in my work as a therapist it is essential to honestly
point out behaviors, actions and concerns I am observing. Sometimes this may be difficult for my client(s);
however, I feel it is an important element of change and personal growth.
On a Personal Level:
After fulfilling my dream of raising my family, I followed my ambition of providing counseling to
individuals, couples, and families in a private practice setting. I am blessed with being married since
1974 which gives me great insight into the many joys and challenges of a long-term relationship.
Furthermore, I am the mother of two wonderful adult children with families of their own. Because I truly
believe balance is such an important aspect of healthy living, I strive to seek it in my own life with my
family, work, and play.
Studies show that one’s connection to his/her therapist is the most important factors for personal
success in counseling. I believe, it is crucial that you feel at ease working with me as your therapist. In
an attempt to help you determine if I am a therapist you will feel comfortable working with, I offer a
